200 Followers Giveaway!

200 Followers Giveaway!

I’m so excited to be writing this post! I have finally made it to the 200 followers mark!

I cannot believe 200 people want to read what I’m writing! I know it’s not a huge number but I genuinely thought it would just be me that was reading it!

I have been mentioning this for a while now but as I’ve reached my goal I didn’t even think was possible when I started this endeavour, it’s giveaway time!

I am so thankful for all the support I have received since starting my blog and I want to give something back as a token of my appreciation!

***Disclaimer: this giveaway is not sponsored or endorsed by any of the brands that are featured. It’s also not sponsored or endorsed by any of the platforms I am using to promote my giveaway***

What Can You Win?

The prize will be made up of products that I love or think more people should try so you may have seen some of these brands featured in my blog already.

I’ve also popped in a few items that I have used just for swatches since there’s a lot of thing I’ve tried that won’t suit me.

I’m still waiting on a few products to come through and I want some of it to be a surprise for the winner so I’m not going to show off everything but brands include:

  • Revolution
  • Make up Academy
  • Misfit Cosmetics
  • Lush
  • And much more!

We are talking eyeshadow pallettes, powders, makeup brushes, primers, lipsticks and skin care (and probably a few other things I’ve forgot!)

I will be showing some sneak peeks on social media too so keep any eye out for that!

The Rules

The rules are fairly simple:

  1. Follow my blog via WordPress or through the email sign up
  2. Follow one of my other social media channels – Instagram, Twitter or Facebook
  3. Like the post on the blog or on your chosen social media channel

For extra entries (each one you do will count as 1 extra entry):

  • Comment on any of the posts
  • Share any of the posts (on public) and tag me (you can do this multiple times)
  • Follow me on my other platforms
  • Tag a friend

If you do have different social media handles I’d ask you let me know what they are so I can check you’ve followed the rules 😊

Any one found to follow to unfollow after the giveaway closes will be disqualified from future giveaways (because, oh yes, there will be more! 😁).

The winner will be selected at random on the 30th of October and announced on the 31st 🎃🎃.

I will then contact the winner through social media to get their address to send their goodies! This is a UK only competition I’m afraid, but will do international ones in the future!

Once again, thank you so so so much for the support and I’ll be looking at hosting another giveaway once I’m self-hosted (I know, yet another thing I’ve been banging on about!).

If you have any suggestions for brands to feature or just any feedback for me, please get in touch.

Lush Lock In

Lush Lock In

I’m going to start by saying that I’m an idiot…who goes to an event and forgets to take photos for her blog?

This girl right here! 🙄 I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed 😢.

In fairness, I did take one picture and then I was so relaxed I forgot to take any more!

My friend and I got to Edinburgh in plenty of time so started our day out with a wander round the National Gallery of Scotland and then I met a sad looking Pikachu so had to get a picture! 🤣

We then went to Costa for coffee and a cake before sauntering along to Lush on Princes Street.

We arrived in plenty of time so had a wander round before showing our tickets and finding out what the night would entail.

We could book in to experience one of the mini treatments, spend time chatting to the charity speakers, have tea and biscuits downstairs, try our hand at making a bath bomb or just browse the shop floor and just relax.

We booked in for a mini treatment – Tales of Bath – and were given a Washcard to mark our appointment.

Everything is lined up so neatly!

We had a wander upstairs to find out what we were going to buy later before heading down to the spa where we got a cuppa and a biscuit and chatted to the staff and other attendees.

We realised that our appointment time had over run and it turned out someone had taken our spot – not to worry though as we mentioned it to one of the staff and we were taken in not long after.

The Tales of Bath taster was really lovely. You get given a robe to our over your clothes and your asked to sit down.

The room smells lovely, I don’t know what essential oils are in the room but it is really relaxing!

A reading was played about the tale of Prince Bladud who was healed by a Celtic goddess. It’s punctuated with music and your encouraged to be swept up in the words as you have your head and shoulders massaged.

The full treatment includes a bath and full body massage which costs £115 for 75 minutes.

We then went back upstairs and got the chance to book in for another treatment – The Comforter? – but it would be a while before we were due for it so we had a go at making a bath bomb.

This cost £3.95 (I think) with the proceeds going charity.

I really enjoyed trying this out, and it takes a bit more effort that you would maybe imagine!

We were making the Sex Bomb so there’s a little flower thing in that and you put that into the mould first and then cover it up with the first colour mix.

In the other mould you fill that up with more powder until you can’t pack it any more and you squeeze both moulds together really hard.

It was then placed in a rubber glove and we were told not to try and take it out the moulds for 24 hours to allow it to dry out. Then we would find out if we had the technique right and if it would come out the mould in one piece!

As you can see, mine did stick together but the flower thing wasn’t visible so I think I need a bit more practice!

As part of the fee, we also got to take home a medium Charity Pot. This is a fantastic moisturiser and as I already have a tub, I’ll be giving this away as part of my giveaway.

We chatted to the guy who was the charity ambassador for the evening. I really can’t remember the charity name but his dad does fantastic work by fixing up old emergency vehicles and drives them to Africa for use there.

Just before our final treatment we bought a couple of things. I stocked up on my 9-5 cleanser (holy grail! 💜) And picked up the Tee Tree Water toner to try out.

Back downstairs we went for The Comforter? mini treatment.

The full thing is a 60 minute full body exfoliating treatment for £95. As we were having a 15 minute treatment, it was just our arms.

This was lovely, the staff that were doing it were really nice to talk to and it was such a relaxed atmosphere.

They used a hot chocolate scrub and a rose serum to make our skin feel silky smooth!

Unfortunately after this, it was time to head back to the harsh reality of Princes Street.

It felt really surreal outside, we heard Kasabian playing in the Gardens and finally there was fireworks – a perfect end to the night!

This was a free event so I would definitely recommend checking your local Spas to see if there is anything like this happening near you as it was a fantastic night and great to get a feeling for what the treatments actually entail!

Let me know if you liked this post or if you’ve attended any of these events before and would you thought!

As always, thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to be in with a chance of winning my giveaway which will go live next week!

Soph X Revolution – Extra Spice, Lipstick and Body Mist

Soph X Revolution – Extra Spice, Lipstick and Body Mist

If you’re new here you might not realise that I really, really, really like Makeup Revolution as a brand.

They create really good quality makeup for drugstore prices and they have been compared to the likes of Urban Decay and Too Faced in terms of style and quality.

What’s not to love? I can get my beauty fix at a fraction of the price!

Another not so well kept secret is I really like Soph Does Nails on YouTube. This one maybe isn’t so obvious unless you know me and we’ve had the “makeup” discussion or you’ve found me catching up on her videos!

She seems pretty genuine and I trust her reviews on products.

She has already had a collaboration with Revolution a few years ago where she worked on a highlighter and an eyeshadow palette.

I am a fan of her eyeshadow palette and I used it almost daily until I ran out of time to do my makeup every day!

Her new collection includes another eyeshadow palette, 3 lipsticks and a body mist so, of course, I had to pick them up!

Like me, Soph really likes her food and this is evident through her entire collection. I think it’s a nice touch and ties the products together nicely.

The packaging also links everything together with a rose gold and nude colour scheme with her signature on all the products.

The Extra Spice eyeshadow palette has 18 shades which is 6 less than the original but the shade names are embossed on the packaging rather than on a silly plastic sheet which I’m sure everyone loses after 5 minutes!

It makes the palette feel much more high end than its predecessor and for the luxury of shade names you pay the same price of £10.00 which, let’s face it, is not expensive for what you’re getting!

The eyeshadow themselves are, for the most part, the quality and pigmentation you would expect if you have tried any Revolution products before.

There is the odd shade (Brownies I’m looking at you!) which applies a little patchier than the rest or isn’t as pigmented as it looks in the pan but all the colours are buildable and blend really well.

One thing I did notice is that the Extra Spice colours did crease on my eyelid throughout the day which is something I never noticed with the original.

I’d say Extra Spice is much bolder than the original. It has its nude colours and transition shades but there are pops of colour to make a bold look too.

The layout is intentional as you have you’re bolder colours in the left half of the palette and the more subdued colours on the right.

It’s easier to see which colours would work better if you’re looking to experiment but unsure where to start.

I think with both palettes in your collection you have a great range of shades and would be able to be quite versatile with your looks.

I’m hoping she might come out with a cooler toned palette as well to complete the collection as both of these are quite warm to neutral so it would be a nice touch for me and my cool toned sisters out there!

The lipsticks are called Cake, Syrup and Fudge (I told you she liked her food!) and they are £4.00 each.

I only picked up one shade – Cake 🍰 – as I’m not the biggest fan of normal lipsticks any more but was really wanting to see what the formula was like.

The shade is the perfect “my lips but better shade” and I love it for that reason!

It doesn’t feel drying or sticky when it’s on and didn’t leave my lips feeling dry when I removed it.

With it being a normal lipstick, it does transfer a lot do require a lot more top ups through the day than a liquid lipstick.

Its hard to photograph but you can just see her signature in the lipstick itself which is quite cute!

As an aside – the above picture has been used my Revolution Spain, Portugal and Italy on Twitter and Instagram which I’m pretty proud of as it didn’t think it was anything special when I posted it!

Lastly we have the body mist in the scent Vanilla & Crème brulé (surprised?).

This I £8.00 which I thought it was quite expensive but you get 236ml which will last for ages!

As it’s a body mist, I don’t think the smell lasts for very long but then it could be because I’m used to it.

The scent is right up my street. It smells sweet and cakey as you would expect but isn’t cloying at all.

The downside is it does make me a tad hungry, but then, I’m always hungry! 🤣

I love this collection and you can grab it from Superdrug and the Revolution website.

*Breaking News!* As I was checking the website for prices, I noticed Superdrug has a Soph’s favourite collection which features lipsticks, eyeshadows, highlighters and brushes.

There’s a Soph palette in there that looks interesting and cool toned! Maybe my dreams have come true. The downside is the collection is £100.00 so I don’t think I can justify that any time soon! But look at the pretty packaging! 💜

Unless the kind folks at Superdrug would like to send me it to review 😉. Joking of course, a girl can dream!

Have you picked up any of the new collection? What about the other collaborations Revolution have done? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below!

Speak soon!
