Product Empties – June

Product Empties – June

I know, I know we are almost to August but I couldn’t let the month pass without having at least one post for June! Better late than never right?

Rather than having my monthly favourites – because I bought very little in June and didn’t really use any products I haven’t already mentioned – I thought I would do an empties post.

I’ve had this post planned for quite a while but annoyingly even two months down the line, so many products I was wanting to include are still not empty, despite using them daily! At least I’m getting a lot of use out of them 😁

I first mentioned doing this post in my May Favourites and trying to “pan” or finish some products.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I’ve failed even though I’ve not went through much BUT I’ve not bought much that was new either! So is that a win? Help me decide in the comments!

First up I have Child’s Farm Baby Moisturiser. This is the product that people have been saying is a miracle cure for psoriasis and eczema online.

J has psoriasis so thought we would give this a go. When he first told me about it I thought he said Child’s Fart and I still can’t help but giggling about it… childish? Me? Nah! 🤣

I commandeered this bottle because I needed something gentle for my new tattoo and it’s a really nice moisturiser.

It doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy and I think it absorbs really quick! It doesn’t have much of a smell and makes your skin feel soft and hydrated.

We have found it pretty hard to get hold of though as everyone was buying it. We’ve managed to find it in Asda but it’s a bit hit and miss so always make sure to stock up when we see it.

It hasn’t cured J’s psoriasis but I think it has improved it. I’m not sure if that will be also down to this amazing amount of sun we’ve been getting too though!

I have used not one but the two of my Native Unearthed deodorants I received in my May Birchbox.

As I mentioned in that post, I love this stuff! It is a bit weird as it’s a paste but it gives lasting protection even in this heat!

It smells really fresh and it doesn’t leave those horrible deodorant marks on your clothes like a lot of them do.

I have my full sized tub on the way and it’s definitely going to be a regular purchase!

I finally used up all my Simple Foaming Face Wash. I think I bought this in February so it lasted quite a long time with daily use!

This did make my skin nip a bit if I had any spots or broken skin but the foaming action made it feel as if my skin was being cleaned.

It did leave my skin quite red after use sometimes but it died down fairly quickly once I dried my face and put moisturiser on.

I probably won’t repurchase this just because I’ve moved on to Asda face wash which I feel is much kinder to my skin.

Finally I’ve been using Make Up Academy’s Pro-Base Primer.

Confession – I have had this for a very long time! It didn’t smell weird and the consistency was the still the same so I thought I would use it up.

I also have one in a grey bottle too and I think it’s exactly the same so I’m now using that too.

I like this primer. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and stops my foundation sticking to any dry patches on my face.

It doesn’t feel greasy and is absorbed really quickly! I did notice that when I use it, my nose gets quite oily really quickly.

I have an oily nose anyway – yay for combination skin 🙄 – but using this primer does seem to exacerbate it a bit.

So there you have it, my product empties from June! How have you got on?

I have definitely made up for not buying a lot of products over the last few months as you’ll see in my upcoming posts!

I have made my first ever order from Smashbox Cosmetics and I have bought a few things from Revolution so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I have also been really lucky and was invited to an event at Deep Sea World so I will give you all the juicy details about that!

Testing “Korean” Makeup

Testing “Korean” Makeup

With most Korean beauty routines being 8-10 steps, it definitely won’t speed up your morning process but could it be the skincare secret we’ve been looking for all along?

Korean beauty has grown in popularity in the UK in recent years with bloggers, YouTubers and even celebrities endorsing the products.

If you haven’t heard of this trend I imagine you’ve at least seen the K-Pop range in Primark and wondered why they had made their pallettes extra cute and Kawaii!

Korean beauty focuses on making your skin hydrated and healthy so you don’t need to wear makeup rather than the Western approach of covering your imperfections with as much makeup as possible!

Any makeup is understated – you won’t find products for massive bold brows or bronzing your skin to the max!

With something so popular, of course Amazon are jumping on the bandwagon and a quick search for Korean beauty gives you pages and pages of items.

Me being me, I picked up a couple of products that piqued my interest and have been having a play with them.

I don’t think what I have bought is necessarily Korean although it did appear on the search and I think some of the products might actually be fake but I’m not really sure how to tell so I would suggest to use caution if you decide to do this.

Romantic Bear – Lip Colour

These are long lasting lip colours in 6 flavours – watermelon, cherry, rose, orange, peach and sexy red (not sure on the smell of this one!).

I didn’t actually realise they were scented when I bought them so I actually thought they were off! It was J, who doesn’t have an aversion to watermelon, that pointed it out!

You spread this over your lips, wait for 10 minutes until it’s dry and then peel it off giving you a long lasting tint to your lips…Or that’s the idea…the reality is slightly different!

The stuff is so thick that it’s really hard to apply so when you’re trying to get an even coverage it just sticks to itself. And because it dries so quickly it actually peels it off as you’re applying it.

I persevered and got what I thought was an even coverage. When I peeled it off it turns out that wasn’t the case! I had weird random patches on my lips.

It also stained my teeth and my finger that I applied it with! For about a day and a half even after repeated scrubbing!

It’s definitely long lasting but the results leave a lot to be desired! I looked like I had been eating one of those dummy lollies you get from the market!

Dr. Feelgood – Foundation Cream

How pretty is this packaging – I’ll be honest, this was the sole reason I bought this! It looks gorgeous! 😍

The description doesn’t make much sense, the translation is truly terrible!

It says it is “moisturising light sheath tighten elastic” and “you will find pores fine, under the face slippery all day” 😕 I’m not sure what this means but I think it promises to minimise pores and can be used as a primer.

Inside the tub it is like a hard cream (not sure what you would call them) so it’s difficult to get much product out.

It makes your skin feel soft and absorbs really quickly into the skin. I don’t think it done much for minimising my pores or making my makeup last longer!

Cucnzn – Hydrolyzed Collagen Fluid

Looking at the description on Amazon this appears to be hazelnut oil but may have other ingredients too.

It doesn’t have a smell but it has the consistency of wet baby oil…I know that sounds odd but bear with me! It’s like it’s oily but also just like water.

It takes a minute to be absorbed into the skin because it’s oil based but it surprisingly doesn’t make your skin feel really greasy.

I don’t think I noticed it brightening my skin but I think the only thing that will do that right now is a holiday! It was fighting a losing battle from the outset!

Maycheer – BB Cream

This was the biggest surprise for me as it’s classed as a BB cream I was not expecting the amount of coverage it gave!

I’d class this as medium to full coverage and it blends so well! I got it in the shade Ivory (of course!) it’s actually slightly too light because I have a bit of a tan at the moment but come winter I think this might be my go-to product!

It doesn’t cling to any dry patches and leaves your skin quite dewy which I know some people like – I set it and had no problems with it under the powder.

All these products were under £5 each so I wasn’t expecting miracles when I ordered them, I’m just happy I found at least one product that I know I’m going to use regularly.

I would like to try out some other Korean products from one of the websites but I genuinely don’t know where to start!

If you know which ones are genuine please let me know in the comments below!

As always, thanks so much for reading and let me know what you thought of this post.

Kalon Kosmetics Review

Kalon Kosmetics Review

A few weeks ago I won an Instagram competition hosted by the lovely Kalon Kosmetics who I’ve been following on social media for quite a while.

My prize included two Mineral Eye Dusts, brow powder, two lipsticks and a highlighter.

I was able to pick my own colours from their range and it was so difficult, I think I spent almost an hour choosing the shades! Their range is massive, there are so many colours to choose from! Definitely something to suit everyone!

As soon as I had picked my colours they shipped them to me and they arrived a few days later. I even got a tracking number so I was able to follow their trip across to me!

They arrived in a little gold bag and I even had a hand written thank you card inside which was lovely to receive!

Loose Mineral Eye Dust

These eye pigments are stunning! I got the shades Fabulous Grape and Turquoise but there are 15 shades in the range.

I wanted to try something bright to really show the colours off.

The swatches really don’t do the colours justice! Fabulous Grape is a lot more pigmented than what it appears and looks quite dark in person.

The fallout from these really isn’t as bad as I’ve found in other loose pigments and any that did fall on my cheeks was easily swept away with a fluffy brush without destroying the rest of my makeup.

The colours lasts all day and don’t crease. I would definitely recommend a primer though to really get the best colour pay off.

These are priced at $8 which I think is on par with a lot of drugstore prices. I would say they are worth the price just for how pretty they look! A little goes a long way too so it would take a long time for you to finish a pot.

My only real gripe with these is the packaging, I’m not a fan of products you’re supposed to tip out – I’m looking at you setting powder! – I just feel like it’s a waste of product as it inevitably goes everywhere!

Brow Powder

I got the Brow Powder in Mid-Brown but it doesn’t quite work for me. It’s slightly too warm toned for my paleness and it was really obvious when I was wearing it.

I did like using the powder though, it is easy to use and blends nicely. I may just use it as eyeshadow as it’s a lovely matte brown.

Again, this is $8 and there are 8 shades in the range.

Lipstick

I got the lipsticks in Raspberry Satin and Barely There. I love these colours!

Raspberry Satin is the perfect “lip colour but better shade” and the colour lasts for the majority of the day but does need top ups after food/drink like most do!

The formula is creamy and comfortable on the lips and doesn’t dry them at all.

These are $13 and come in 20 different shades! Looking at the thumbnails of the colours there is a really good mixtures of shades which would work well on most skintones.

They also have lots of other ranges of lipsticks and gloss so you can definitely find your colour match as well as your favourite formula I’m sure!

Candle Glow Highlighter

This is the product I’ve not tried as much as the others. The reason being is I’m just not very good with liquid highlighters!

I got it in the shade Pearly Pink but there are 3 shades to choose from.

It gives a very subtle glow when used under foundation and makes your skin quite dewy looking.

Over foundation it gives a nice natural looking highlight. Definitely a subtle one but that’s not a bad thing!

This is $22 so the most expensive product they have sent me. I wish I could appreciate it more but I think I just don’t know how to get the best out of it!

I’ve been wanting to try Kalon Kosmetics for quite a while but because they’re based in America I was worried about being hit by custom charges. I feel so lucky that I’ve been able to try them out and would definitely recommend them!

I just wish I could try out their entir range as the sample of products I have got are brilliant! Would love to try some of their matte lipsticks and their foundation!

Have you used Kalon Kosmetics before? What did you think? What products would you recommend? Let me know in the comments below!

Highland Fling Bungee

Highland Fling Bungee

Hi guys, I’m going to start off by saying, I’m a mega wuss. Like I’m seriously terrified of everything!

That’s why you won’t see any photos of me mid-jump here! You will see me do something that some might say is just as terrifying though!

A few weeks ago myself, J and a couple of friends went to Killiecrankie, near Pitlochry to visit Highland Fling Bungee.

What is Highland Fling Bungee?

I’m pretty sure everyone knows what a bungee jump is so I’m not going to go into detail when it comes to that!

The jump at Killiecrankie is the first permanent bungee jump from a bridge in Scotland.

You are in freefall for 40 metres which works out at a few seconds at about 50 miles per hour before the cord catches you.

The also have a site at the Titan Crane in Glasgow but at the time of writing this is closed at the moment.

What is the Highland Swing?

The moment I dropped – check out my fear face!

At the site in Pitlochry you can also do the Highland Swing – this I what I did and it was terrifying!

You start 40 metres above the river in a full body harness. You’re then dropped into freefall for about 15 metres before the rope takes the slack and you start your arc of the swing.

This is also a first for Scotland!

I originally said I did not want to bungee but would do this, thinking I would definitely need to book and I would get out of it. No such luck, they had spaces available!

Where is it?

We went to the Killiecrankie site. This is just outside Pitlochry in Perthshire.

The location is stunning, if you’re looking for a jump with a view then I’m not sure it would get much better than this in Britain anyway!

Not only do you get to do the jump on this stunning location, you can make your way into Pitlochry for some much needed fuel once the adrenaline rush wears off!

Why Would I Want To?

Short answer: it’s fun!

I didn’t do a bungee so I can’t say how fun that was but from the reactions of the people I was with it was clearly awesome!

I don’t have an urge to do a bungee any time soon (I’ve never seen the appeal of jumping head first!) But I know that J wants to do more! He was buzzing!

The Swing was brilliant, even if the harness was digging into places it has no business being 😲

I did have my eyes shut for the majority of the fall but man was it a rush!

Eyes are still shut!

All the staff that we spoke to were really nice and had all jumped themselves. They were really enthusiastic about it and helped to put my mind at ease.

Prices

Bungee: £79pp

Swing: £69pp

I know there are sometimes special offers and Groupons with this too so you may be able to get a deal!

I would recommend you do book before you go but they do have walk-in spaces from what I saw on the day!

You can also get videos and photos of your jump.

The video is edited into a nice little montage from different angles. Definitely worth the money if it’s your first jump!

This is not a sponsored post, we just had an excellent day out and I’d really recommend you go up even just to spectate as the scenery is just so beautiful!

I think everyone should do something that gets your heart rate up every once in a while and I know a bungee jump is on a lot of people’s Bucket List so why not give it a go?

You can see our videos on my YouTube channel, genuinely only set up to upload these videos, I hate talking to the camera so can’t see myself becoming a Vlogger any time soon!

As always I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think in the comments!

I’m really sorry I’ve not been as consistent recently, I have so many posts lined up with very little time to write them. Having a new puppy takes up SO much time and I just can’t tear myself away from him!
