My Furry Family

My Furry Family

Yesterday we had a new addition to the family so I thought I would introduce you to everyone.

My Instagram is normally filled with pictures of my pets but if you don’t follow me you wouldn’t have seen them before!

Might also be an incentive to follow me too, who doesn’t want cute animals filling up their newsfeed?! 😉

As I mentioned in my very first post, kids aren’t for us. We have instead chose to fill our home with animals instead!

Cute pictures to follow!

Charlie’s favourite Spot on top of the cat tree

Charlie is our oldest cat. He is about 8 or so. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old.

I’ve always seen him as quite a special cat. He is petrified of pretty much everything and everyone.

He was found on a building site with his sister and was taken to the rescue. His sister was more outgoing and she was adopted first. He became even more timid without her around to protect him!

Charlie makes you feel quite privileged when he allows you to pet him. I think he was almost 2 when he felt brave enough to sit on my knee and he will still run away if you make any sudden movements.

Trying to get him to the vet is an absolute nightmare! As soon as he sees the carrier he goes into panic mode and hides.

Charlie adores J, he was the first one who was allowed to touch him and every night he comes for a cuddle off his dad!

The one thing Charlie isn’t scared off is Flopsie. I don’t know if this is because we kept him in the rat room as a kitten but he likes being close to small furries and although I would never leave them together unattended, he’s never tried to harm them.

Don’t let the cute face fool you!

Loki is an Exotic Shorthair. He’s 5 but still looks and acts like a kitten most of the time.

He’s got a really funny character and spends most of the time with his tongue hanging out! He used to play fetch with his toys as a kitten and can sit on command!

He has a strange affinity for cages. Whenever I’m cleaning out any pet cages (Flopsie’s or previously rat cages) he would always climb in and be quite happy there!

Loki is petrified of the bunny when he is out the cage. It’s like he pretends there’s nothing to worry about but Flops will hop in his general direction and Loki will hightail it out of there!

He can be the cuddliest cat ever or can be really aloof where it’s like you can hear him saying “don’t touch me!”.

The cats are both quite chatty but Loki more so than Charlie. Especially if there’s chicken on the go!

I don’t know how they do it but as soon as they hear chicken being taken out the fridge they go mental!

They both also know when it’s feeding time. As soon as it hits 8pm both of them are circling like hawks!

Definitely in need of a haircut!

Flopsie is a disabled bunny who used to belong to my friend. He had a parasite that made him fall over and the vet suspected he lost his vision too.

He did have a cage mate, Sparkles, but she died really suddenly. When that happened I offered to take him as he couldn’t clean himself properly and would be better suited to being an indoor rabbit.

He still falls over sometimes but he is a strong-willed thing so he will still jump around like a normal bunny.

He’s very friendly and is really happy to sit there while you pet him, give him a haircut or clip his claws!

He’s a clever one and uses a litter tray in his cage and if he needs to go when he’s out, he just climbs back into his cage!

He’s pretty nosy and loves to get into places he shouldn’t! One of the first things he did in our new home was to chew the phone cable!

So relaxed alreafy

Murphy came home yesterday. He’s a 9 week old cocker spaniel and is just adorable.

We have been wanting to get a dog for so long and we are finally in a position to do so. I actually had several people ask me if J knew about the new arrival or if he was going to be surprised when he got home from work! (Yes, he knew and agreed! 🤣)

He is a little terror already and I know he is going to have us run off our feet!

He’s been very clingy over the last day but I imagine he feels really unsettled with the car journey and his new environment.

He’s so nosy and wants to watch to see what you’re doing all the time except when he’s sleeping! Being a puppy he has been sleeping a lot! His little snores are so cute!

He hasn’t had his jags yet but they will be started this week so we can get him on walks soon, until then I’ll be carrying him everywhere to get him used to everything I can!

He still has the clumsy puppiness and falls over when running, but being little doesn’t stop him! He can already get onto the couch!

So there you have it, that’s our furry little family at the moment! I get so many comments about them when I post their pictures so I thought I would let you know what they’re really like!

Let me know if you enjoyed this post and what pets you have in the comments below.

Don’t forget to hit follow too as we are nearing the target for the giveaway, I wouldn’t want you to miss out!

The Mystery Blogger Award

The Mystery Blogger Award

This wasn’t the post I thought I would be writing today! I realise my posting schedule has been a bit out of whack but I promise there are things happening in the background and all will become clear!

I am so excited to say, I have been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award.

I still see myself as so new to the blogging world and I am so flattered and grateful!

The person who nominated me is Nicole Eloise from she is a beauty, lifestyle, mental health and chronic illness blogger. Please check out her page!

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules.
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify)
  9. Share a link to your best post(s)

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

The award was created by Okoto Enigma and it is to celebrate those blogs that inspire and motivate, for those that find passion and inspiration in blogging and for the undiscovered blogs that deserve recognition.

I had to look this up – I’d seen people posting about this but didn’t quite know who started it or why it began!

You can find Okoto’s blog here and it would be great if you could check her page out!

3 Things About Me

  1. I’m a big gamer geek – my last game related purchase was a Retro Lancer Replica from Gears of War.
  2. I have performed on stage twice as Elsa from Frozen, obviously dancing to “Let it Go”!
  3. I have a library for my spare room! Love a good book! 💜

Questions from Nicole Eloise

– What is the earliest memory you have?

Not very exciting I’m afraid! I remember my gran had a glass kitchen table and I would walk under it. She would always put her hand above my head so I wouldn’t knock it on the edge. I think I was about 3 or 4 at the time.

– What have you learned from blogging, and how has it changed you as a person?

I wouldn’t really say it’s changed me as a person but it has made me want to become more organised!

I’ve learned that it is pretty hard to stay on top of it all – I thought it was just writing stuff down, keeping on top of all the social media stuff takes up so much time too!

– If you could blog about something that isn’t currently part of your blog genre, what would it be?

I would love to be able to post some travel related posts but I would need to actually go on holiday for that! Hmm, an excuse for a holiday?!

– What is something really weird that you have always had the random urge to do? Keep it clean!

I don’t think it’s very weird but always had the urge to jump out of a plane with a stranger strapped to my back! 😉

– Which three products do you need in your bag when you go out?

My vape, my purse and my phone. I’m not very exciting and I actually rarely take makeup out with me as I never do touch ups – that’s why I think it’s so important for my makeup to last all day!

I’m sorry if you have been nominated for this before!

Putting Sport FX to the Ultimate Test

Putting Sport FX to the Ultimate Test

As promised, I found a way to put Sport FX products to the ultimate test!

My partner and I completed Tough Mudder for our 4th year in a row and we didn’t die!

It was an awful day weather-wise! It was cold and it was pouring down for most of the day. At points in the course we were miserable and wanting to give up.

Buuut we stuck it out and made it to the finish line to get our yellow headband!

The real question that I know you’re all asking is did my makeup cross the finish line too?

I didn’t have the full range of Sport FX products but as I mentioned in my Beauty Haul, I did manage to find BB Cream, Concealer, a Brow Pencil and Mascara.

I also used Revolution primer and fixing spray to give the makeup a fighting chance!

I tried the products before hand just to find out how they fared on my skin before taking them through 10 miles of mud. No point in trying to test them if they didn’t make it through a regular day, right?

I found the BB Cream a little hard to like. I’m not sure if it is just my skin or if it was my application but it seemed to go a little cakey in my smile lines after just a few hours wear and that was with and without powder.

It did last most of the day but up close it didn’t look all that great. It just never seemed to set or get absorbed into my skin.

It did have a bit more coverage than what I was expecting from a BB cream and it didn’t feel heavy, it was just like wearing moisturiser.

I love the concealer for daily wear! The sponge applicator is a bit of a faff since you need to use something else to blend it in anyway but the coverage it provides is really good.

The lightest shade is definitely suitable for us pasty ladies and really brightens up the undereye area.

I wasn’t great at using the eyebrow pencil, I didn’t really think I would be – I’m 100% a brow powder kind of girl! The applicator just isn’t as precise as a brush.

The shade is a little bit too light and warm for me, I could definitely tell I filled in my brows badly, but you can build up the colour quite a bit.

It comes with a spoolie on the other end of the pencil so you can shape your brows which I like having just for the convenience!

The mascara has a bit of a strange wand but with a little bit of hand contortion going on I could get it to coat all my lashes.

The colour is good, it makes your lashes really black and it is buildable to give your eyelashes definition and volume! It is a little clumpy but you can easily remove any big clumps with the wand.

At the Starting Line

I didn’t want to rock up to the start line with a really full face of makeup so I only used the products above and went without eyeshadow, contour and lipstick.

By the time we walked from the car to the starting tent I was soaked. Water running down my face soaked!

Every time I touched my face it looked like there was some BB cream or concealer coming off on my hand but I was assured by J that it didn’t look bad or patchy, my brows were still in place and I didn’t have mascara running down my cheeks!

There were photographers on the course so I hope I can get a few good photos to show how the makeup looked during the event.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a mirror or my phone to do check-ins through the day.

Rest assured, everything was put through its paces. I was soaked with rain, I climbed over walls and through thick mud, I got submerged in water and even electrocuted! Definitely a full test was done!

At the Finish Line

You can’t really tell from our quickly taken, post event selfie!

I’ll be honest, when we were done, all I wanted was to get out of there! I was cold and my hips were completely seized up.

It wasn’t until I got to my brother’s house to clean up that I realised how impressed I actually was.

The concealer and BB cream were gone, or under layers of dirt and mud – not quite sure which!

My brows were still there, they hadn’t rubbed off. There was definitely still product there!

The star of the show was definitely the mascara! It wasn’t running down my face and I definitely still had defined lashes! It’s not just waterproof, it’s mudproof! I still think I had it on a day later despite washing my face several times!

I also want to mention that although I wasn’t testing it, the Native Unearthed Deodorant Balm I got in my May Birchbox kept me stinky free all day and I would definitely recommend this! I feel like this is may be the best deodorant ever! And I’m going to be stocking up asap!

So there you have it – I genuinely don’t know if I could have done anything else to put this makeup to the test.

In my normal wear test, I found everything to last for as long as my go-to products. My only real criticism was with the BB cream and it may just not like my skin type very much! Let me know what you thought of this if you’ve used it in the comments below!

You can buy this from Sports Direct or from Sport FX directly. If you are buying it from Sports Direct, be warned, the BOGOF offer is only applicable to the same product so if you’re buying a couple of things to try you don’t get to benefit from the offer!

I wish I had better photos of my makeup in action – hopefully when we get our event photos I can upload them here to show you!

I’m still recovering from the event – I think that proves how unfit I am! I’ve definitely had a few dates with this guy to try to ease my aches and pains:

As always, thanks so much for reading! How did you think the makeup would hold up? Were you as surprised by the mascara as I was?

Look Fantastic Beauty Box – June 2018

Look Fantastic Beauty Box – June 2018

I’ve had this box for about two weeks but I was so mad with my experience I wanted to wait to review the products as I thought it would cloud my judgement.

In total contrast to the excellent customer service I received from Birchbox, Look Fantastic have been awful to deal with.

As I mentioned when I reviewed my May box I was only buying the one box and I wasn’t going to subscribe just yet.

I cancelled my subscription just after I bought the box and even had a live chat with someone to confirm it was cancelled.

On the 1st of June a further £15 was taken from my bank account. On the website it doesn’t show that I have placed another order.

I used their customer support form and was told that you’re always charged for the next month and then your subscription is cancelled.

The person I spoke to on the live chat didn’t mention this and I don’t remember seeing it on the website as it says you can buy a one-off box!

They did offer to take it back in the end but I figured I have already paid for it and it would be more hassle to send it back.

It will be on the website somewhere and it has to be in their terms and conditions, I just wanted to mention this just in case anyone else is caught out!

Rant over!! 😡

The box this month is stunning and a perfect fit for all those blue skies we’ve been having!

You get your copy of Elle magazine with the box but if last month’s issue is anything to go by I probably won’t bother opening it!

This month I have 7 products to try out (7!) Although one is a freebie so only enough for one application in it.

Mádara – SOS Hydra Moisture + Radiance Mask – RRP £35/60ml

I haven’t used this as a full on mask but have been putting some on my face before going to bed. When I wake up my skin feels moisturised and soft.

When it starts to absorb it makes your face feel tight like when you use a toner. I don’t think it has made my skin feel any more youthful like it claims but it feels like it’s doing something!

I imagine this would be quite good to use as a primer too. It makes your skin slightly tacky after application and should in theory keep you moisturised all day!

Elemis – Superfood Facial Wash – RRP £25/150ml

This contains a “smoothie of superfoods”. I’m not quite sure what that means but this smoothie contains wheatgrass, nettle and kale.

The first thing I noticed about this was the smell – it stinks! It’s fine if you sniff the packet but once it’s on your face it is so strong! 🤢

It smells like the smoothie has been fermenting for a while! Luckily it doesn’t linger!

It doesn’t foam up very much but I have been using a foaming face wash so I might not be used to normal one!

It did leave my skin feeling fresh and clean. I don’t think my skin looks any different, it certainly doesn’t look more luminous like it claims to do.

Christophe Robin – Cleansing Volumising Paste – RRP £42.50/250ml

This looks quite odd. The colour and texture of it didn’t really make me want to put it in my hair!

It’s a grey/brown colour but weirdly it smells of rose – so a total contradiction for the senses!

Once you put it on your scalp it lathered up so, so much and immediately made your hair feel thicker.

It took ages for it to rinse out my hair, it was like it wanted to cling on to my hair for as long as possible!

It made my hair feel soft but also quite dry! Unfortunately, it the volume didn’t last once I was out the shower but any product is hard pushed to give me volume in my hair! Definitely fighting a losing battle with that one!

My hair smelt lovely all day though and that’s definitely something I can get on board with! One of my favourite things is when you catch a whiff of your hair after using something nice for it!

Studio 10 – Liquid Foil I-Radiance

This is really pretty! If you like your glitter or foil shadows this is definitely one for you!

It goes on really evenly which I’ve noticed is a hard task for these types of shadows!

It is mega sparkly – I think I’d call it blinding – and is just a beautiful shade of gold. It can also be used as a primer for extra radiant eyeshadow!

It dries quite well and didn’t crease in the few hours I was wearing it but I’m not sure how it would last for a whole day. I think you would end up with a sparkly face that’s for sure! ✨

I couldn’t find a price for this one on Look Fantastic or on their own website which I found a bit strange! Maybe they have been discontinued?

Vita Liberata – Self Tanning Tinted Lotion – RRP £15/200ml

First off, me and tanning lotions don’t get on well at all! It’s probably the way I apply them or it might just be my skin but I always look patchy!

I’m sad to say this one was no different! Maybe with practice I can make it work but I’ve realised in recent years that I like being so pale I’m blue! 🤣

I also found it took ages to absorb into my skin – I can’t really remember if this normal for fake tan though!

The one plus point for me was definitely the smell – you know the one I’m talking about, you can smell fake tan a mile away – this didn’t have that at all. It smells just like a moisturiser.

Rituals- Ritual of Dao Body Cream – RRP £19.50/220ml

It’s quite funny that I received this one, my friend actually gave me one of her Rituals products to try this week too!

This contains white lotus and Yi Yi Ren which gives it a really beautiful smell without it being overpowering!

It feels like quite a heavy cream, I can definitely feel it on my skin even when it’s absorbed – I’m not even sure if that makes sense?

It leaves skin feeling soft for ages but I think with the heaviness I would probably only apply this once a day so my skin can breathe!

In all honesty, one application is probably enough as my skin still feels soft at the end of the day if I’ve applied this in the morning!

Bonus – Real Chemistry – Day Cream

This day cream feels quite nice, it’s absorbed really easily and doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy.

It says on the packet “for a supple, luminous glow”. Does it mean subtle? I found that a bit of a strange sentence!

I didn’t notice it giving a glow to my skin either so I’m not sure what it’s meant to do other than be a moisturiser! Can anyone enlighten me? 😕

I couldn’t find a price for this product; however, it says for best results use after the Daily Serum. The serum is £92 for 50ml!! 😲

I’m not quite sure I want to know the price of the day cream!

So that was my June Look Fantastic Beauty Box. I don’t think I’ll be getting it again, only because it seems to be impossible to just buy one box.

If I take the plunge and decide to take a subscription, I will definitely be considering it as I’ve loved the types of products I’ve gotten but I’ve just got that fear of commitment I guess!

What did you think of the products this month? Any that you were dying to try?

Don’t forget, you can get money off your first box using my referral link. I do receive credit to spend with them if you do choose to use it.

This is my first post on my new posting schedule! I have decided to move my days to Tuesday and Thursday and drop down to two posts per week so I can take the time I need to create the posts you love!

I hope you understand but let me know in the comments your thoughts on this change!

I hope you liked this one, if there’s anything you particularly want to see leave your suggestions for me and I’ll try as many as I can!

Thanks for reading, guys! It means the world to me!

Beauty Buys and an Upcoming Challenge

Beauty Buys and an Upcoming Challenge

It just hit me this weekend, I’m off on holiday from Thursday for two and half weeks…sounds great except I thought I had more time. You see, on Saturday my partner and I are completing our 4th Tough Mudder.

You would think with it being our 4th we would be quite fit and have a training schedule down, not so! He has an active job so he is used to walking around for miles a day. I sit at my desk and the only exercise I get is nipping outside for a puff on my Vape! I think it may kill me!

The only thing that could make me feel better after this stark realisation? Buying more makeup of course!

I was on the hunt for the newly launched Sophdoesnails Extra Spice palette in Superdrug but unfortunately my local one didn’t seem to have any in stock! Not to worry, a quick trip to Boots and Sports Direct gave me enough makeup to last me a while.

Obsession Makeup London

Being the Revolution Makeup fan that I am, I have been wanting to try Obsession for quite a while.

I bagged myself a lip kit, whitening foundation mixer and an eyeshadow palette.

I’ve tried the Revolution Lip Kits and I love them so don’t expect this to be much different. It comes with lip liner and liquid lipstick and costs £5. I picked up the shade Hook Up which looks like a pink-y nude shade – I’m still on the hunt for my shade but better and this looks like it could be a good match.

I picked up the foundation mixer as I have a few foundations that are too dark for me and rather than throwing them out, I thought I would give this a go. This costs £8 for 40ml and there was quite a few different kinds – whitener, darkener, peach, champagne and millionairess (?).

My main worry is that it will change the consistency of the foundation so the coverage won’t be as good but I look forward to trying it! Hopefully I will be able to get use out of some of my old foundations again.

Lastly, I picked up the Cool Down Eyeshadow Palette for £5. I feel like my focus lately has been on warm tones lately so I wanted to pick up something that was exclusively cool toned.

There are 3 shimmer shades and 5 matte colours. I like how this could be used exclusively for a natural look by using the browns or you can add a splash of colour with the purples, silver and gold.

Sleek Makeup

I have only had one experience with Sleek Makeup products but I have heard so many good things about them I wanted to pick up a few more items.

I love the packaging for their Matte Me liquid lipsticks and have seen a few reviews for them. I got the shade Shabby Chic which looks like a nude pink but is much brighter when swatched.

If this is good, I can see myself buying the whole range! Luckily at £4.99, its not really breaking the bank!

I bought one of the Eau La La Liners in the shade Red Sky Night in the hope it would match the lipstick but if the liner is truer to the packaging shade I think it might be too light.

Again, this was £4.99 and even if it doesn’t match, I have so many lipsticks, I know I’ll be able to find one that it works with!

Lastly, I got the the I’m Conditioning Mascara for £7.99. This claims to promote strong, long, healthy lashes and helps them to grow. I got it in black (obviously!) and I hope I see a difference in my lashes from regular use.

I will of course give an update on this one once I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks. I might even take some before and after pictures if I remember.

Sport FX

I bought the Balance Boosting BB Cream and Core Cream Concealer in Fair.

Both of these contain SPF 20 which if they work is great since last year I got badly sunburned! These were £12.99 and £8.99, respectively.

The Sport Stamina Mascara was £7.99 and comes in a squeezable tube…this may be the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen for a mascara!

The last product I bought was the Shape Up Brow Pencil in Brunette for £7.99. This is going to be interesting since I never use a pencil to do my brows, I only ever use powder so this could go really well or really terribly!

I thought it would be quite fun to put the Sport FX makeup through its paces this weekend while I’m at Tough Mudder. What better way to test a brand that claims to be sweat proof, exercise proof, water proof and long-lasting at a 10 mile trail and obstacle run!

It’s likely by the end of the day, I’ll be so covered in mud that it might not be possible to see if I’m still wearing any base makeup but I expect my brows and eyelashes should show whether the test has been successful or not!

I will do my best to update you next Monday but I may need some extra time to recover! Apologies if that is the case! You can make sure you don’t miss my updates by following me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook or by subscribing to my blog.

If you could send some good vibes and luck my way that would be awesome as I’m slightly terrified this year! I think once I’ve recovered I’m going to start training again – I feel as weak as a kitten right now!

Have you tried any of the other products I bought today? Any colours you would recommend for my mythical “perfect lip colour”? What would you most like to see me review? What do you think will happen on Saturday – Will Sport FX do what it claims and make it through the course? Will I? Place your bets now! Let me know in the comments down below!

Thanks, as always for reading, I really do appreciate every view, like, comment and follow! It genuinely makes my day!

May Birchbox Review

May Birchbox Review

Yes, I got suckered in to buying another one! It was on offer again so it only cost £5 – how could I say no??

I know this post seems mega late since we are now in June but I do have a really good reason for this! My first Birchbox arrived and one of the products was open so it destroyed the box and I had once less product to review!

Customer service at Birchbox is clearly something they take really seriously! I made a Tweet about this and they messaged me in no time asking me to contact them.

I didn’t actually write the Tweet thinking I would get anything from it but even after me saying it was only one product and the box that was damaged, they offered to send me a whole new box out!

I got my grubby mitts neatly manicured hands on the replacement today so I was able to take photos! Posts just aren’t the same without photos!

May’s theme was Palm Leaves and Warm Breeze – clearly a Summer theme! The box is beautiful, not really my usual style but I’m really loving the palm leaf print!

Inside we have 5 products but sadly there doesn’t seem to be any full size items this time around – for the price I definitely can’t complain! Or can I?

RRP £21 for 6g

Doucce – Luscious Lip Stain

This was the featured product this month and you could choose from two shades – Steaming Red or Amber Rose. I picked Amber Rose. I love the colour of this – it’s almost my lip colour but better.

As it’s a stain, it dries really fast – genuinely in seconds! It does claim to be comfortable for all-day wear but I really don’t agree. I found it to be so drying on my lips, it didn’t make them look dry or anything but it literally sooked the moisture out my lips as soon as it dried. It’s very uncomfortable!

Since I really liked the colour and didn’t want to give up on it, I found a solution to this. I used lip balm over the stain and that gives my lips the needed moisture. This does stain your lip balm so do this with caution and maybe use one you don’t mind getting a bit tinted!

This does transfer slightly too – especially with the lip balm trick – but the colour does last all day!

RRP £8.95 for 300ml

Greenfrog Botanic – Geranium and Peppermint Botanical Bodywash

This was the product that ruined my first box! The lid was completely off so it leaked everywhere! It did smell amazing when I opened the box though!

This product is cruelty-free and vegan which is great. It says it’s gentle and good for those with sensitive skin, eczema and psoriasis. Luckily for me, I don’t have any of these issues but I will maybe give it to my partner for him to try and provide an update if need be!

It smells really good – I can’t resist peppermint products – and it bubbles up nicely using a body puff. Even long after your shower you can smell it on your skin!

Did I mention it smells great?!

RRP £7.99 for 60ml

Native Unearthed – Activated Charcoal Natural Deodorant Balm

I thought this was the weirdest thing ever when I first opened it up! I thought there was no way this could possibly work!

I normally use roll on deodorants and had no idea you could even get them in balm form! It is quite bizarre using this for the first time. The directions tell you to take a pea-sized amount and rub in…it disappears to absolutely nothing and doesn’t smell of the normal deodorant smell!

By this point I was convinced I would be a sweaty, smelly mess by the end of the day! I was gobsmacked! I love this. It doesn’t leave any marks on your clothes and it lasts all day!

Considering we’re having a heatwave right now, I’m really surprised I can say it works this well! I’m so glad I now have another one as the little jar doesn’t last very long! This is also vegan and cruelty-free so I think I may make the switch to use this as my daily deodorant!

RRP £27 for 30ml

Marcelle – New Age Precision 8-in-1 Power Serum

The serum is to be applied morning and night and it can be used under makeup.

It claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and firm your skin.

It literally melts into the skin and doesn’t leave it greasy at all. I don’t think it’s amazingly moisturising but it makes my skin feel soft.

I’ve been using it for about a week now but I haven’t really noticed any difference to my skin.

I don’t hate the product but I wouldn’t buy it on its own. I tried the Marcelle makeup remover in my April box and I think maybe it’s a brand I just don’t get on with!

RRP £16 for full size product

Eyeko – Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

I’ve already tried an Eyeko eyeliner in by Look Fantastic Box so I was expecting some good things from this! I wasn’t disappointed!

Like it’s sister, this is super black and glides on effortlessly. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t give me the ability to create a perfect wing but I really do think I’m getting better!

Top: skinny – can you see a difference?

Because this is a mini product, I don’t find it quite as easy to hold. I’ve also done a comparison and don’t think there is any difference between the skinny and normal liner.

I really loved this box, I’ve still not signed up for a monthly subscription but really tempted to after the quality of these products.

I’m also so happy with the quality of their customer service. They got back to me so quick and went over and above to fix my issues! Thanks Birchbox!

Did you get a Birchbox in May? What did you think about the products you got? If you are still swithering you can grab £5 off your first box using my referral code. I do get credit to spend in the Birchbox shop if you use it! If you don’t want to use my link you can just go through the Birchbox UK website.

Is there a subscription box you would recommend and would like to see me review? Let me know in the comments and I’ll try and get my hands on it!

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a fantastic weekend and I will see you again next week!

April Birchbox Review

Blogging Goals Smashed – May and June 2018

Blogging Goals Smashed – May and June 2018

This is a post for all the people who aren’t seeing their blogs and socials grow as much they would like. With posts popping up about growing your followers by 10k overnight it is really hard to stay positive when you’re not seeing those stats!

I thought it would be useful for those to see some honest stats from a small blogger from Scotland and hope it encourages you to keep going!

Everyone’s journey will be different and it’s hard but comparing yourself to others will not help you to grow – it might even discourage you so much you lose all motivation and no one wants that! 💜

I also wanted to have this as a record and hopefully I can look back in a year and see how far I have come!

*disclaimer* this is definitely not a bragging post, there are people out there who are doing much better than me, I just thought I would share to encourage those who are worried their numbers aren’t high enough*

I have been blogging 3 times a week since 23rd of April this year. 😲

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think I would enjoy it this much or keep it up for this long!

I think that is what put me off spending the money on my own domain in the first place but I find myself wanting to take the plunge more and more!

This I how I’ve done so far, minus a couple of views from my original blog post in October 2015.

I know this isn’t a lot compared to a lot of the blogging population out there but I’m happy with my progress.

The “Best Views Ever” was a total fluke and it’s because my pin for this post went a wee bit nuts on Pinterest!

I genuinely thought my stats were broken that day! 🤣

Goals Setting

I’m not delusional (well, maybe a little), I know my blog traffic isn’t going to explode overnight, I’m not going to be making £1000s anytime soon and I won’t have brands lining up to ask me to review their products.

It would be great if it did but this might never happen, and that’s alright too.

To keep myself sane, I’ve set myself achievable goals so I don’t get discouraged too early on and it seems to be working reasonably well!

On the flip side, I’m trying to not get hung up on stats too much and just enjoy doing what I’m doing for now!

May Goals

April and May Stats

These are the numbers I was aiming for before I realised unique visitors to my site and views were just as important as new followers.

  • Blog – 50 followers
  • Twitter – 100 followers
  • Facebook – 20 followers
  • Pinterest -10 followers
  • Instagram – 150 followers

I never realised just how hard it is to keep followers on social media. The most frustrating thing must be the follow/unfollow method.

This can make your numbers fluctuate like crazy and the most annoying thing is it’s never something I do because I only follow people whose content I’m actually might be interested in.

I feel like the people who do it are a fairly selfish bunch who don’t actually care about helping others to grow and I wish there was some algorithm out there that would penalise them – I think I’m just annoyed as I made some of my goals several times last month as the numbers fluctuated so much!

Despite this, I smashed all my goals – I really couldn’t ask for better! The blogging community has been so supportive and it’s really down to their help and support that I’ve managed to reach those goals! 😊

Current Stats

Weekly Stats

These are my stats as of 6th of June, and I know it’s sad but I’m quite chuffed with these numbers!

  • Blog – 102 followers
  • Twitter – 238 followers
  • Facebook – 70 likes/71 followers
  • Pinterest – 33 followers
  • Instagram – 165 followers

Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest were completely brand new and my blog started at 0.

June Goals

Keeping it modest with my June Goals too, I think because I’m not sure if my up trend will keep going, social media is so fickle. Facebook has been strangling my posts like crazy and the Instagram algorithm is just a pain – bring back a feed that stays in chronological order!

  • Blog – 200 followers, 300 views
  • Twitter – 350 followers
  • Facebook – 100 followers/likes
  • Pinterest – 50 followers
  • Instagram – 220 followers

Pinterest seems to be the hardest to grow as it’s pretty much a glorified search engine, I don’t think many hit that follow button but people are viewing and sharing my content so that’s always a plus.

I, of course, couldn’t do this without all of you who read, comment and share my posts and I just want to say from the bottom of my heart ( swinging brick?! 🤣) THANK YOU!!

Your support really does mean everything!

As I’ve mentioned before I will be doing a giveaway if I meet my June blog goal and I will announce it here and on my different accounts. To get me to the target and to make sure you don’t miss out hit that follow button!

You can find all my social links here! I mainly post about my cats on Instagram and occasionally post something insightful on Twitter but please don’t hold your breath! 😁
